Our Story
The family
Mangalam Sarees is a family-run saree business based in Pune, Maharashtra, with a legacy of over 33 years. What started as a humble dream by Mangal and Anilkumar Barmecha has grown into something truly special for us — built on trust, tradition and a deep love for Indian traditional sarees.
Over the years we have had the privilege of dressing generations of women who come back to us for the quality, purity and authenticity they trust. Today Mangalam Sarees is proudly run by their daughter, Minal Bamb, who carries the legacy forward while adding a modern touch, without losing sight of our traditional roots.
We carefully curate an exquisite range of rich and pure sarees — Paithani, Kanjeevaram, Gadwal, soft silks and other timeless weaves — each chosen for its craftsmanship, elegance and cultural value. For us, every saree is more than attire: it is a reflection of heritage, emotions and celebrations.
The Years
1993
Mangal and Anilkumar Barmecha open a single counter with forty sarees, a steel trunk and the belief that a customer should always be told the truth about zari.
1998
The family begins travelling to Yeola themselves, sitting beside the loom until the pallu is finished. The middleman leaves the business for good.
2004
Women who bought their wedding saree here walk back in with their daughters. The register from those years is still in the shop.
2011
The house widens beyond Maharashtra — korvai Kanjeevaram, katan Banarasi, kumbam Gadhwal, each bought loom by loom, never from a warehouse.
2018
Daughter Minal Bamb steps in full time, bringing a modern eye to curation while keeping every rule her parents wrote.
Today
Over 12,000 brides dressed, 60+ weaver families bought from directly, and the same address on Model Colony Road.

Meet the family
Founder
Mangal tai began with forty sarees and a rule she never broke: never sell a woman something you would not drape yourself. She still checks the Paithani consignments before they reach the shelf.

Anilkumar took the first bus to Yeola in 1998 and has been travelling to looms ever since. He pays weavers before the warp is set and has never renegotiated at delivery.

Daughter of the founders, Minal curates every collection that enters the store — pairing traditional purity with contemporary palettes, and personally guiding each bride through her trousseau.

What we hold to
We travel, we sit, we choose. Nothing arrives through a middleman, which is why we can tell you who wove it.
Pure zari, tested zari and art zari are three different things. We say which one before you decide, not after.
We pay before the loom is set and we do not renegotiate at delivery. Slow work needs a steady buyer.
Tell us the muhurat and the saree waits at the counter for six weeks. No advance, no paperwork.
